PlusOne Foundation

Independent foundation · since 2016

We work at the intersection of people, place and possibility.

PlusOne supports initiatives that matter — where they arise, for as long as they need. We do not choose a direction in advance; the direction chooses us.

Three things we do

Everything else we do reduces, in one way or another, to these three.

We are present

Before help is needed, and after it has stopped being needed. The interval between those two moments is what we consider our principal area of work.

Strand I

We connect

Those who can with those who could. Sometimes the connection happens without us; we regard those cases as our most successful and record them alongside the rest.

Strand II

We notice

A significant part of our work is not visible from the outside. This is intentional and is not discussed with external parties.

Strand III

From the field notes

We do not publish names, places or dates. What remains after their removal, we publish in full.

A conversation in a corridor

It lasted under two minutes and led to nothing directly. Eleven months later we learned that it had led to something.

The chair that was moved

We did not pay for the chair, and we did not move it. Our contribution was to notice it out loud.

The list that was not needed

We compiled it over two weeks. By the time it was ready, it was no longer required. We consider this a positive outcome.

“We are often asked what exactly it is that we do. We answer: the same as last year, only more consistently.”From the foreword to our annual report (in preparation)
